VANESSA-MAE
'Subject To Change' (EMI Liberty):
Setting aside the 'classical crossover' genre she pioneered so successfully
the ebullient young violinist Vanessa-Mae launches herself on to the pop music
market with the aptly-titled 'Subject To Change'.
From the mesmeric 'Yantra' opener right through to the atmospheric hidden
track 'Towmeline' V-M's entirely self-penned soundscapes draw from many contemporary
influences including techno, trance, pop, funk and bluegrass. Produced by
Youth, the album's highlights include such standout tracks as 'Picante', 'Deep
South', 'Jamais', 'Love is Only a Game' and the delightful 'White Bird' single
- the album's first track to reveal the girl's hitherto unsuspected vocal
talents.
