NEIL FINN
'One Nil' (Parlophone):
Back with his follow-up to his '98 debut solo set
'Try Whistling This,' Neil Finn is once again in prime form on 'One Nil.'
A collaboration this time around with former Prince acolytes Wendy and Lisa,
the Crowded House singer / songwriter delivers a typically excellent set of
'beautiful, deceptively simple songs underpinned by characteristically dark
lyrical themes.'
However there's much more hope than despair to be found on this real grower
of an album which contains such standout material as the glorious 'Wherever
You Are' single, the rocking 'Don't Ask Why,' the catchy pop ode 'Rest Of
The Day Off' and the stunning 'Secret God,' a song guaranteed to worm its
way into your memory banks.
